The Piedmont Region decided to turn the park into a nature reserve.
- Nature reserve -
Many breeds of wild animals roam the park, which is also Piedmont’s finest example of a forest plain.
The park is surrounded by 30 km of walls and is home to 20 listed buildings, which make up some of Italy’s most beautiful architectural and historical heritage;
they include:
Borgo Castello, numerous farmsteads, medieval ruins, and two hunting lodges.
